Mother Judd’s Jupiter mill

Mother Judd’s Jupiter mill

Posted by Hank in Grain mills - Electric

The Jupiter mill allows you to hand mill or use electricity to power your mill.

This hybrid mill is not available in NZ, however, it is most interesting in its dual capabilities.

Brother and Sister Hancey have a Jupiter Mill. Sister Hancey, known to many of us as Mother Judd, explained that the mill also can operate without electricity.

The hopper fits on top like this.

The Hanceys enjoy using their Jupiter mill to mill their flour. It has an attachable handle that allows one to mill grain during a power cut.

For those of technical interest, the following photo stream shows the manual operating mechanism.

These mills are not available in NZ. Photos taken and supplied by Brother and Sister Hancey (Mother Judd :) ).
